Abstract:A general, 2-dimensional finite element computer program, S-FORGE, has been developed to perform the simulation of full dense and porous metal preforms The code allows the analysis of the forming operation of complex parts and gives the geometry evaluation and the distributions of the principal field-variables, including relative density. In addition, the yield criteria and constitutive equation proposed by Doraivelu was used to describe porous material plastic forming behavior, a FEM for mulation to simulate the powder metallurgy (P/M) forming operation has been derived. In order to show the application of S-FORGE, simple compressions of porous preform with different friction factors were simulated.
