Abstract:Al-10Pb (in mass fraction) and Al-20Pb mixed powders were mechanically milled. The morphology and the microstructures of the milled powders were observed by scanning electron microscopy and electron probe microscopy, and the microhardness and density of the milled powder were tested. The results show that at beginning of milling, the particle size of Al-Pb mixed powder increases, then it decreases to a stable value. Mechanical milling leads to the formation of laminar structure. With prolonging milling time, the laminar structure is refined, finally fractures to small particles; the hardness of Al-Pb powder is increased and the compact density is decreased. Compared with Al-10Pb powder, Al-20Pb powder has obvious laminar structure, low hardness, and high density.
